Born and raised in Sonoma county Karissa was instinctually drawn to loving on people from a very young age.  In 1995 at just 5 years old, Karissa was giving her grandma a hand massage and her grandma remarked, "Oh Ruby girl, you have healing hands, maybe you'll be a masseuse one day!" A memory that came back to her many years into her career as an esthetician while she was giving an arm massage.

In 2010 she became an Esthetician and in 2015 she paused her career as an Esthetician to travel the world and study yoga for an undermined amount of time, after 5 month abroad she felt her "Eat Pray Love" moment was complete and she came home to apply all she learned.

In 2018 she opened her own skincare practice while teaching 7 yoga classes a week in 4 different locations.  In 2020 in response to the pandemic she shifted all her yoga offerings online for a period of time and created DIY facials kits for her skincare clients.  When the world starting turning again her clients were beyond ready to be loved on again and Moving Deep Yoga took a life of its own in parks & in collaboration with local businesses such as, Drakes the Barn, Mast Coffee, The Clara Event Center.  Presently she continues to pour her whole soul into these yoga offerings, an annual retreat each fall, and her holistic skincare practice.​
